Compared to conventional producers, processors and traders, organic operators face a range of extra efforts and costs to comply with legal requirements, certification standards and consumer expectations. However, the extend and amount of these specific costs are unknown.
Hence, the goal of this research is to identify and quantify the most relevant specific costs of producing, processing and trading organic products. A focus is on the costs for prevention of pesticide residues and for managing residue cases.
The online survey is directed to organic operators, sector representatives and consultants, which have a good overview about costs, which are dedicated to organic compliance.
We would like to ask the organic operators to quantify the compliance costs as precise as possible related to the real costs in your operations. Sector representatives or consultants may estimate average costs based own their expertise for the kind of operation, for which they would have the best overview.
This online survey is conducted on assignment of IFOAM Organics Europe. The results will help the organic umbrella organisation to better address simplifications for future organic regulations and bylaws to the decision makers in the EU COM.
The answers will be analysed in an anonymised way.
The survey will take around 15 minutes.
